Corpus Architectae 2007

“Corpus architecturae” is the pleasure of playing with lightness. They are like fragments of cosmic weightless architectures, which, worn safely on our body, subtly modify the relations and contrasts between the body and the space that surrounds it, projecting it beyond its every-day limits.

“Corpus architectae” es el placer de jugar con la levedad. Son como fragmentos de unas arquitecturas cósmicas sin peso, que al ser llevadas, depositadas encima de nuestro cuerpo, modifican sutilmente las relaciones y contrastes entre las formas del cuerpo y el espacio que le rodea, proyectándolo mas allá de sus limites cotidianos.

Imago Mundi 2006

“Imago Mundi”This new group of work, with the generic name “Imago Mundi”, shares many things with previous work of mine; the same style, the same freedom of expression, the same need to be better than the last time, the same need to ask questions of myself. But the way in which these needs are met is different.The work is based on sentiments that provoke dual and contradictory aspects of our lives and our universe. The dialog between opposites: there is no light without the contrast of darkness; there is no death without life. This work is based on experience, and on the conflict of feelings. Something that has been there for a long time suddenly and unexpectedly emerges to give a new impulse to the creative force. Color disappears; this time black and white with some semblance of gray are enough to provoke a denser atmosphere compared to earlier work. Black and white, form and material, microcosms and macrocosms establish a suggestive dialog, pregnant with significance. Perhaps it is the way to express the darker side of the relationship man has with nature, the conflict between civilization and nature, and the search for primal harmony. In any case, the imaginary background of the pieces in the “Imago Mundi” series is always behind the reality of daily life, like a shadow that can’t be caught.

Esta nueva serie de trabajos agrupados con el nombre genérico de “Imago Mundi”, comparte muchas cosas con las anteriores obras; el mismo sistema de trabajo, la misma libertad creadora, la necesidad de superar nuevos retos, la misma necesidad de interrogarse, pero cambian las formas de satisfacer estas necesidades.
Es un trabajo fundamentado en los sentimientos que provocan los aspectos duales y contradictorios de nuestra vida y de nuestro universo. La dialéctica entre lo contrapuesto, no hay luz sin el contraste de la oscuridad, no hay muerte si no hay vida.
Estos trabajos están enraizados en la experiencia, en el conflicto de sentimientos. Algo que ya estaba ahí, de hace tiempo, de pronto emerge inesperadamente, para dar un renovado impulso a la fuerza creadora. Desaparece el color ; esta vez blanco y negro con algunos matices de grises deben ser suficientes para provocar una atmósfera mas densa en comparación con los anteriores trabajos. Blanco y negro, forma y materia, microcosmos y macrocosmos, establecen una dialéctica sugerente y preñada de significados. Quizás es una forma de expresar el lado más oscuro de la relación del hombre con la naturaleza, el conflicto entre civilización y naturalidad, la búsqueda de una armonía primigenia.
En todo caso, el modelo imaginario de de las obras que conforman esta serie de “Imago Mundi”, siempre se encuentra detrás de la realidad cotidiana, como una sombra inaprensible.

Walled Gardens 2004 - 2005

The series of pieces made since the beginning of 2004 grouped under the general title of
Walled Gardens are above all an expression of a desire. The desire to use colour, colour without any limits, without any inhibitions, to give an impression of pieces made without pretensions, looking for a certain simplicity. Provoking the sensation or idea of a game of combining and mixing, playing with fragments of plastic and coloured stones with spontaneous graphic drawings and lines. They are also a very personal way of trying to gain an intimate experience of freedom and to satisfy a deep need to feel alive.

The Walled Gardens theme was the driving force for making this work. Walled Gardens allude to gardens which we imagine or which we only just catch a glimpse of through the iron gates or over the high walls. These Gardens which we cannot enter, which are surrounded and isolated awaken in us the desire to transgress this forbidden boundary. They invite us to jump over these high walls to discover the universe hidden within. Each piece in this series evokes the microcosms of plants and foliage that grow enclosed behind the walls of these small imaginary paradises.

La serie de trabajos realizados desde principios del año 2004 y agrupados bajo el titulo genérico de “Jardines cerrados”, son antes que nada, la expresión de un deseo. El deseo de utilizar el color, el color sin freno y sin inhibiciones. Provocar la sensación de un trabajo realizado sin pretensiones, solo buscando la sensación de un juego de combinaciones y recombinaciones de fragmentos de plástico y de piedras de colores, de líneas y grafismos espontáneos. Pero también son una forma muy personal de intentar conquistar una intima sensación de libertad y de satisfacer un profundo deseo de sentirse vivo.

El tema de los jardines cerrados es el desencadenante para realizar estas piezas. “Jardines cerrados” alude o evoca esos jardines que imaginamos o que entrevemos a través de una verja o por encima de una alta pared. Esos jardines en los que no podemos entrar, rodeados de altas paredes pero que despiertan en nosotros el deseo de entrar, de transgredir la prohibición de entrar y nos invitan a saltar la pared para descubrir el universo que encierra. Cada joya de esta serie evoca el microcosmos de plantas y follajes encerrados entre las paredes de estos pequeños paraísos imaginados.
